What's Japan to you?

Japan is renowned for quality, knowledge and tradition. It is a land where dreams and creativity meet with mysticism and legends to allow for innovations that rise above our imagination. To me, Japan is also a synonym of comfort and nostalgia. Its art and folk culture are intertwined with my childhood, where watching anime, playing games and reading about mythologies made me dream of the Land of the rising sun. As I grew up, Japan folk culture became a refuge to express myself and gain self-confidence. The last time I visited this country, it was inspired as how culture and arts could live hands in hands with modernism; how stories of akuma and spirits could feed video games and manga, thriving next to inspiring creative artists like Yayoi Kusama. Today, Japan continues to export ideas drizzled with a twist of fantasy that unites us and shines across the world.

How many costumes do you have?

Self Introduction

Bonjour! My nickname is Mathi. I'm a quiet and shy girl, but when I cosplay, I'm bringing character to the show. Cosplaying, playing with fabrics and bringing my creations to life is my passion, my favorite hobby. In my spare time, I like spending time with my cat Twisted Cinnamon and to enjoy a cup of tea with my friends while playing board games and watching anime. I love scuba diving as it makes me feel like I immerse myself in another world. I can’t wait to take over the stage in Japan and represent Canada!
